This course is intended for learners ages 17 years & 3 months through 20 years old. Students 21 and older can take the course for educational purposes, but will not receive a certificate of completion by the SoS.
The state of Illinois requires our team to verify student permit numbers if entered during registration. Please be prepared to submit a photo of your state issued instruction permit to our team prior to receiving a completion certificate. If you do not have an instruction permit, no action is required.

Basic Vehicle Knowledge
All the basic information to help you get to know your vehicle including instruments, lights, safety features, and more!
Rules of the Road
From laws and rules of the road to identifying road signs, you’ll learn the rules of driving on different types of roads and how to identify important signs and features.
Driving Maneuvers
This course is full of fun interactives and engaging videos that walk you through different driving maneuvers and how to perform them safely and efficiently. You’ll also learn how to choose between different maneuvers based on the road conditions and your own skill as a driver.
Road Safety
Our course is full of important road safety tips and rules. We walk you through the risks of distracted driving, and driving under the influence, as well as how to control your emotions while you drive to keep everyone on the road safe.
Quizzes and Lesson Tests
Test you knowledge with discussion quizzes after each section, lesson test to help you review all of the important information you learn. At the end of the Illinois adult driver education course, there is also a final exam to ensure you’ve learned everything you need to know to be a safe driver and pass your driving exam.
Completion Certification
Finally, once you complete your course, you’ll receive a completion certificate to present to the DMV as proof that you took the course and are ready to take your exam. Good luck, and drive safe!

Once you complete your course our team will be notified to issue your certificate. Please note that certificates are only processed during weekdays, so if you finish your course on the weekend, your completion certificate will be emailed to you the following Monday.
This course is intended for learners ages 17.25 (17 + 3 months) through 20 years old. The SoS accepts certificates from students ages 18 through 20. Students 21 and older can take the course for educational purposes, but the SoS will not award certificates to anyone over 20.

No, you do not need a learner’s permit to enroll in this course. However, you do need to hold a learner’s permit to be able to practice driving behind the wheel with another licensed Illinois driver.
This course can be taken by students ages 17.25 (17 years and 3 months) to 20 years old. The SoS accepts certificates from students ages 18-20. We do encourage adults of any age to take this course to prepare for their driving exam to get their license, however, the state of Illinois only requires the course for 18-20 year old prospective drivers.
